Letters: Back to school website helps families

By Staff | Aug 22, 2010

To the Editor:

It seems like only yesterday when we were saying goodbye for the summer break – it’s hard to believe the school year starts in less than a weeks on Aug. 23.

To help families start to prepare, the Lee County Pubic Schools system has created its annual Back to School section on its website. The link – which is a large graphic of crayons at the top of the main page – provides a wealth of information vital for families.

From uniform information to bus routes to information on how to register, families can find almost anything on this page.

Many people will be conducting open house and orientation events over the couple of days or in some cases they have already occurred. You can check for your school’s event on the District’s website (the District-wide activities calendar) or families can contact their child’s school directly.

Finally, as the first day approaches, commuters need to be aware that come Monday, Aug. 23, children will be back out waiting for buses on the streets, riding their bikes or walking to and from school. We all need to be a little more cautious and aware as the 2010-2011 school year kicks off.
