Rain forces Miracle to cancel games

By Staff | Aug 24, 2010

Monday’s rain blanketing Southwest Florida reached north to Bradenton, forcing early postponement of the Fort Myers Miracle’s Florida State League games with the Bradenton Marauders.

It is the second straight day the Miracle (27-29) were postponed by the weather. Sunday’s game at Hammond Stadium with the Marauders was suspended in the second inning by a heavy downpour. That game was to be completed Monday in Bradenton in addition to the regularly-scheduled game.

The games will not be made up.

With 12 games remaining in the season, the Miracle travel to Palm Beach Tuesday to open a three-game series with the first-place Cardinals (32-24). First pitch is 6:35 p.m. Tuesday at Roger Dean Stadium. The Miracle trail the Cardinals by five games in the South Division standings.

The Miracle’s final homestand of the season begins Friday with a three-game set against the St. Lucie Mets. The homestand features Fan Appreciation Giveaways and the final fireworks show of the season on Saturday.
