By Staff | Aug 25, 2010

JUPITER – Fort Myers Miracle starter Bruce Pugh allowed only one run over six innings and Allan De San Miguel cracked a second-inning three-run home run in a 5-1 victory over the Palm Beach Cardinals Tuesday night.

With the win, the Miracle move within 3 1/2 games of first-place Palm Beach, which holds a one-game lead over Bradenton in the FSL South standings.

Pugh (7-10) picked up the victory, allowing only three hits in his six-inning performance. Cardinals designated-hitter C.J. Beatty hit a two-out solo home run in the fifth for their only run on the night.

Jhon Garcia kept the Cards’ off the board in the final three innings, picking up his second save of the year.

De San Miguel blasted his fourth home run of the year in a rough second inning for Cardinals starter Scott Schneider. Deibinson Romero and Nate Hanson both singled to begin the inning. De San Miguel then rocketed a ball over the left-field wall to put the Miracle ahead 3-0.

Schnieder (2-7) only lasted three innings in the loss, also surrendering an RBI single to Yangervis Solarte in his final frame.

Brian Dozier slugged a solo home run in the seventh inning off reliever Joel Pichardo to put the Miracle up 5-1. It is his third long ball of the season.

Romero, Hanson, and Solarte all finished with two hits apiece as the Miracle outhit Palm Beach 10-5.

The Miracle improve to just 3-10 against the Cardinals this year, but have won three of their last four matchups dating back to the end of June. They play five more times this season, wrapping up play at Roger Dean Stadium in the next two nights.
