Children visit Lehigh hospital
Young minds got a chance recently to see some aspects of Lehigh Regional Medical Center in Lehigh Acres. This was possible, thanks to a coordinated effort between
Lehigh Childcare Center and the hospital.
The 7 and 8-year-old attendees were very engaged and participative, hospital officials said. They
attended activities to learn about radiology and surgery such as how X-Rays and CAT Scans are taken as well as some details about pre/post surgery and
anesthesia.
“The important thing about these types of activities is just to be exposed to all the different possibilities for health careers. We want to help children
understand that every aspect of healthcare is valuable and that things that are usually behind the scenes are just as important as doctors and nurses”, said Chris Rakunas, the hospital’s CEO.
