‘Midsummer Night’s Sing’ nets ton of food for charity

Residents who attended the recent 13th Annual A Midsummer Night’s Sing at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Fort Myers opened their hearts and their wallets by contributing approximately one ton of food to benefit The Soup Kitchen, operated by Community Cooperative Ministries (CCMI).
Attendees on also contributed $3,000 to help the charity, which serves more than 1,000 meals per day through The Soup Kitchen, Meals on Wheels and food programs for families in need. In addition, the agency provides transportation for the frail elderly and Montessori pre-school education for children from working poor families.
About 700 people attended the performance, sponsored by the Galloway Family of Dealerships.
The popular event featured performances by The Sun-Sations, Teen Challenge, Pianist Barbara Peterson, Organist Eddygrace Bernhard, Choral Director Rev. Roger Peterson, Soloist Beth Wininger, and the First Presbyterian Church Choir and Friends.
