By Staff | Aug 31, 2010

The Florida State League selected Fort Myers Miracle infielder Deibinson Romero as its Player of the Week.

Romero, 23, a Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native, compiled a .474 batting average last week (9-for-19). Four of his nine hits were for extra bases and scored six times while driving in four runs to help the Miracle go 4-2 for the week.

The fifth-year pro is hitting .230 with a team-high 48 RBI on the season. He has logged 225 career games in a Miracle uniform, recording a career-high in RBI last season with 56.

Former Miracle pitchers Kyle Gibson and Bruce Pugh were named FSL Pitchers of the Week earlier this season.

The FSL’s Pitcher of the Week is Charlotte Stone Crabs left-hander Matt Moore. He started one game with one win for a 0.00 ERA. In six innings pitched he allowed three hits, no runs, and struck out 10 batters. Moore, who has won the award four times this season, is in his fourth year of professional baseball.
