Traffic delays expected due to funeral procession
The Lee County Emergency Medical Services and Lee County Sheriff’s Office are expecting traffic delays between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, due to the funeral procession for slain emergency responder Lisa Eddy-Forde.
About 1,000 people are expected to attend the funeral and proceed from Lehigh’s New Life Assembly Church to Lee Memorial Park on State Road 82 Wednesday.
During the procession all traffic in both directions will be shut down between the church on Leonard Blvd. and Owen St., on Owen St. between Leonard and SR 82 and on SR 82 between Owen and Lee Memorial Park.
EMS co-workers are paying their respects by giving Eddy-Forde and her son full honors as part of the entitlement granted to all emergency workers who die while actively employed. Lee County EMS has worked closely with the family to honor Eddy-Forde in a manner befitting her service to the community, officials said.
Eddy-Forde and her son died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, in their home, the victims of an apparent double murder suicide, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
