Olinda Boggie

Olinda Mabel Boggie, 73, of Ft. Myers, died surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010 at the Hope Hospice House in Fort Myers. She was born on November 22, 1936 in Syracuse, N.Y., to Mark and Edith Ackles. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Boggie.

She graduated from Crouse Irving Nursing School in Syracuse, N.Y., and devoted her life to nursing in many facets including hospitals, home health agencies and Hope Hospice of Lee County. She was a long time resident of Lehigh Acres before moving to The Presbyterian Homes in Fort Myers where she was an active resident enjoying games, cards and volunteering with special events.

She is survived by her children, Janine Hicks of Melbourne Beach, Fla., Mark Capel of Amsterdam, N.Y., Annette (Charlie) Hassen of Fort Myers, and Mary Jo (Rodney) Howard of Lehigh Acres; six grandchildren, Christina (Armand) Willis, Minneapolis, Minn.; Melissa Capel, Bloomington, Minn.; Zachary Murray and Emily Murray of Ft. Myers; Austin and Paige Howard of Lehigh Acres; and her great grandson, Eugene Sanders IV of Bloomington, Minn.

Her surviving siblings are John (Linda) Ackles of Dallas, N.C., Annette Bruntrager of Baldwinsville, N.Y., and Arlene (Jim) Metzler of Salisbury Center, N.Y.

A celebration of life ceremony will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 at Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers.
