FGCU’s Glick earns fourth A-Sun award

By Staff | Sep 21, 2010

Redshirt junior goalkeeper Adam Glick was a brick wall tending the net for the FGCU Eagles during the Embassy Suites Kickoff Classic over the weekend.

For his efforts, Glick earned his fourth career Atlantic Sun Conference honor Monday as Defensive Player of the Week.

Glick posted a couple of game-changing saves in 200 minutes of play over two games. His diving deflection on a Drexel penalty kick in the 107th minute of double-overtime helped FGCU hold on for a 1-1 tie. On Saturday, Glick tallied four saves to pick up his 17th career win in net and 10th career shutout as the Eagles beat No.5-ranked Ohio State in front of a record-setting crowd of 1,322 at the FGCU Soccer Complex.

His hard work in the two matches also earned an all-tournament team selection.

Glick has started all seven games for the Eagles. With two shutouts, he has recorded 30 saves and a 0.78 goals-against average after playing just under 690 minutes in goal on the season.

Also earning recognition from the A-Sun, freshman forward Ryan Price picked up honorable mention for his play over the weekend.

The Eagles (3-2-2) remain at home for a clash with the FIU Golden Panthers at 7 p.m. Friday.
