On their fifth try, the Oasis Sharks earned their first varsity volleyball victory Monday night. The Sharks achieved the feat on their home floor with a 25-15, 25-18, 25-21 decision over Moore Haven.

“We played much better defense, set the ball better and generated some offense,” said Sharks coach Ken Falvey. “We also served much better than we had been which helped a lot.”

The Sharks played with a lead throughout the match. At one point in the second game, Danielle Bebber served eight straight points.

Maria Khon led the Sharks with eight kills to go with seven digs and Julie Harper handed out 14 assists.

The third game was the tightest between the teams, but the Sharks prevailed because of more consistent play while making fewer mistakes.

“I hope we can use this win as a turning point and move forward,” said Falvey.

The Sharks (1-4) play Tuesday night at Naples First Baptist.

Mariner 3, Dunbar 0: Mariner coasted to a 25-8, 25-13, 25-20 victory at Dunbar Monday night.

The victory, in which every player on the roster saw action and contributed, lifts the Tritons to 5-2 heading into Tuesday’s home match with North Fort Myers.

Port Charlotte 3, Cape Coral 0: Cape Coral had trouble putting together a serious challenge in a 25-10, 27-25, 25-6 defeat to Port Charlotte Monday.

Kaitlin Upton had seven digs while Alison Harper and Erica Hoegler contributed three kills apiece for the Seahawks (1-7), who host South Fort Myers Tuesday night.

At Heron Creek: Dylan Fine had to share medalist honors with one other player after shooting a 1-over-par 37 Monday, but got a lot of help from his Ida Baker teammates to total 157 and earn easy decisions over Lemon Bay (180) and North Port (193).

Anthony Myers, Kyle Schulte and Bryr Austen all posted rounds of 40 for the Bulldogs (6-0), who play again Tuesday at River Hall against Riverdale.
