Cape Storms sweep Bucs
It was a Stormy weekend for the Cape Coral Youth teams sweeping the Suncoast Buccaneers in Pop Warner Peace River Conference action Saturday.
It was just the opposite for the Cape Junior teams, which all lost at home to the North Port Mustangs.
Cape Junior travels south next Saturday to face the Naples Gators while Cape Youth hosts the Estero Mustangs at the Storms Complex.
Lightning 32, Buccaneers 0: The junior pee week Lightning (3-1) blew away Suncoast with a smothering defense that did not allow the Buccaneers a single first down.
Rilley Stilson, Wade Williamson and Chris Ramsey led the defensive charge.
Luke Endsley ran for two touchdowns and caught a pass for another to lead the offense. Toby Noland caught a TD pass and Keeshaurn McCaulley returned a kickoff 74 yards for a TD.
Tornadoes 40, Buccaneers 0: The junior midget Tornadoes dominated the line of scrimmage in a rout of Suncoast.
The win was a great team effort offensively and defensively.
Hurricanes 22, Buccaneers 0: The defense of the midget Hurricanes held firm until the offense found the end zone late in the second quarter to establish a lead they would not relinquish in a shutout win over Suncoast.
Quarterback Sage Attwood capped a 65-yard drive with a three-yard TD plunge and with kicker Austin Mellaci’s two-pointer the Hurricanes led 8-0 at the half.
The Hurricanes (5-0) scored on two straight possessions in the second half to seal the victory. Attwood tossed a 35-yard scoring pass to Jhshod Thornton, who ran 45 yards off tackle for the final TD on the next series. Mellaci kicked another two-pointer after the last TD to finish the scoring.
