Prep Report: Tritons overpower Gators

The Mariner Tritons proved too strong for the Island Coast Gators Monday night as the Tritons won in a straight-set decision.
The Tritons played with a lead in each of the three games, winning 25-11, 25-11, 25-12.
“We played well,” said Tritons coach Briska Wolfe. “We made some good digs and got to play everybody.”
Senior setter Sam Greenwell was credited with making 19 assists with senior Cody Sawyer and junior Victoria Webb-Martin collecting six kills apiece. Sawyer went on a serving tear, registering 12 aces.
The Tritons (6-4) host the more powerful Fort Myers Green Wave Tuesday night.
Port Charlotte 3, Ida Baker 1: Ida Baker came out fired up and pressured to the end of the first game, but mental errors wound up costing the Bulldogs Monday night in a 25-22, 25-16, 19-25, 25-12 loss to Port Charlotte.
Sophomore Lexi Goldberg was credited with 23 digs and junior Kali Nordquist with 14 digs. Junior Payton Van Horn delivered 17 kills while junior Brenna Hambsch added five kills and 11 blocks. Junior Madison Kobs handed out 24 assists.
The Bulldogs (5-4) hosts Riverdale Tuesday night.
Cape Coral 3, Dunbar 0: Kristi Maselter served up 10 aces and added a team-high nine kills to lead Cape Coral to a 25-21, 25-10, 25-13 victory over Dunbar.
Alysia Figueroa contributed six aces and four kills for the Seahawks (2-9), who host Cypress Lake Tuesday night.
Lemon Bay 3, North Fort Myers 0: Lemon Bay had the upper hand throughout Monday’s 25-10, 25-18, 25-12 victory over North Fort Myers.
Jessica Wagner came through with seven kills and seven blocks to lead the Red Knights and Miranda Ashby was credited with nine digs.
North (5-7) hosts Cape Coral Thursday night.
Boys Golf
At Coral Oaks: An Ida Baker foursome turned in a combined 4-over-par score of 148 Monday to beat city rival Mariner by 33 strokes and the Bulldogs extended their season unbeaten streak to 8-0.
Michael Faulkner beat par with a 1-under 35 to lead the Bulldogs, who had four scores of 39 or better. Anthony Myers shot even par while Dylan Fine and Anthony Montoya fired 38 and 39, respectively.
“It was the first time this year we have four scores in the 30s,” said Bulldogs coach Scott Conforte. “It’s also our first time below 150, so things are starting to come together.”
Dean Hofer had the low round for the Tritons (6-3) at 40. Jordan Kenney was next at 45.
The Tritons take on East Lee County and Dunbar at Mirror Lakes Tuesday. The Bulldogs host South Fort Myers and Island Coast at Palmetto Pine Tuesday.
