Gas leak causes campus closing
Due to a natural gas leak on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway at the main entrance to the Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) campus, all traffic has been rerouted in such a manner that no vehicles are able to get onto campus, FGCU officials said earlier today.
Traffic can exit the campus using the North Road, but entry to the North Road is currently blocked.
Because of this situation, all FGCU classes are canceled for the remainder of today (Thursday, September 30, 2010). This includes all night classes.
All FGCU classes will resume tomorrow (Friday, October 1) under the normal schedule.
Even though the classes are canceled for the remainder of today, the FGCU campus will remain open to accommodate our on-campus population. All FGCU departments will remain open as per their regular hours, college officials said..
