Cape Storms notch wins

Cape Coral Youth Football Association teams enjoyed another successful afternoon of Pop Warner Football, dropping one game Saturday at the Storms Complex.
Cape Coral Junior teams won the Junior Midget and Midget division contests while dropping the Junior Pee Wee and Pee Wee division games. No details of their games were provided for this report.
Typhoons 26, Mustangs 0: The Mitey Mite division Typhoons got a defensive effort that was as stingy as ever with great line play and tackles by Fabian Long, Micheal Barzola, Daniel McClung and Logan Mischel.
Kole Williamson came up with an interception runback for a touchdown on defense. On offense, quarterback Carson McNeelly executing plays with precision. Maxwell Hardaway caught a pass for a touchdown and Jayden Laster and Shomari Mason had one TD apiece.
The Typhoons dominated from start to finish.
Lightning 32, Mustangs 6: The Junior Pee Wee Lightning improved to 5-1 on the year with a victory over Estero. The Lightning built a 26-0 lead with 2:56 remaining in the first quarter and never looked back.
The hard hitting defense led to six Mustangs turnovers. Brayden Cook, Chris Ramsey, Korey Besse and Rilley Stilson all recovered fumbles while Cameron Howitt and Wade Williamson each made a pass interception.
The Lightning offense was in high gear, led by Luke Endsley who had touchdown runs of 40, 41 and 49 yards. He also caught a 42-yard scoring pass from Luke Smith. Keshaurn McCaulley wrapped up the scoring with a 15-yard touchdown run.
Thunder 18, Mustangs 0: The Cape Youth Thunder sealed another shutout victory in the Pee Wee division over Estero.
Anchored by two solid offensive lines, the Thunder put points on the board with Cooper Gibson rushing for one TD and receiving another on a pass from Brennan Williams. The other TD came on a 30-yard strike from Jordan Diggs to Josh Keller.
The defense played another solid game, bringing it together as a team and preparing to enter the playoffs for the first time.
Mustangs 30, Tornadoes 14: The Junior Midget Tornadoes scored first on a 40-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jack Atkins to Joshua Eugene. Jake Atkins kicked the extra point for an 8-0 lead.
The Tornadoes executed a perfect onside kick that Eugene recovered and returned it 35 yards to the 10-yard line. Zaquandre White made a tough run and took it to the end zone to lead 14-0.
Estero scored right before the half to cut it to 14-7.
Atkins hooked up with Jannai Maxwell for a 50-yard pass play that landed the Tornadoes on the 5-yard line. On the very next play, the Tornadoes were just about to cross the the goal line when the ball was stripped and the Mustangs ran it back 80 yards.
Estero scored to cut the deficit to 14-13, where it remained until 3:30 left in the fourth quarter. Estero kicked a field goal and the Tornadoes made two quick turnovers which resulted in the Tornadoes’ loss.
Hurricanes 28, Mustangs 0: The Midget division Hurricanes remain unbeaten. From the opening kick off the Hurricanes played physical, tackled well and put together their best half of football in the first half.
Sage Attwood connected on 4-of-4 passes for 117 yards and three touchdowns while rushing four times for 62 yards.
Jshod Thornton caught three passes for 107 yards and two TDs while rushing five times for 47 yards. Christian Goss ran for one TD and Austin Mellaci added a TD pass reception.
Attwood also led the defense with eight tackles, seven assists, a safety and an interception. John Riccardi added six tackles and five assists.
