Dorothy Kramp Rosko

Dorothy Kramp Rosko, 82, of Lehigh Acres, died Oct. 3, 2010 at the Hope Hospice House in Lehigh. Born on October 15, 1927 in Dunellen, N.J., to Charles and Anna Kramp, she attended Dunellen Schools and Barbizon School of Modeling, New York City. Early employment With Otis Elevator Co. in New York City included modeling assignments.

In her early20s she spent six months in Jamaica and worked as a stand-in for Arlene Dahl in the movie Jamaica Run. Errol Flynn was a frequent visitor to the filming on the North Shore. She often dined with his father and sister.

On return to the United States she worked for a travel agency in Palm Springs, Fla. Clients included Gary Cooper and Prince Rainier of Monoco who once held the door open for her so she could pass.

Later employment was at Avery Label Co. in New York City as customer service supervisor and Lasky Printing Co. Milburn, N.J., prior to marriage on September 23, 1972 to John P. Rosko at St. Michael’s church, Cranford, N.J., living there and relocating to Lehigh Acres on October 2000.

In New Jersey she was an active member of the Plainfield Ski Club for more than 30 years, skiing in New England, Western U.S. and Europe.

In Lehigh she was active in the Senior Citizens Center, painting and line dancing, a member of the local singing group, president of the Amberwood Neighborhood Watch and the Polish American Society.

In recent years she and her husband made several trips to Europe visiting relatives in Poland, Spain and Slovakia. Other pleasure trips were to Italy, Sicily, Budapest, Vienna and Prague.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, John and cousins in New Jersey, New York, Florida, Poland and Spain.

Memorial services will be at the Hope Hospice chapel, 1201 Wings Way in Lehigh on Tuesday, October 19 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Hospice in Rosko’s name. Arrangements are being handled by the ICS Cremation Society in Fort Myers.
