Elks Country hoedown planned Oct. 16

The Lehigh Acres Elks Lodge 2602 will hold a “Down on the Farm” Country Hoedown with a dinner and dance on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the lodge at 1050 Joel Blvd.

Cocktails are at 6 p.m. with dinner t 7 p.m. The menu includes a ham dinner. The cost of meal is $15 per person with music being provided by the K-Tones.

Kathryn Pierson, the publicity chairman for the Elks, urges visitors to come dressed in “your country attire.” Everyone is invited. Contact Dolores D’Angelo at 368-7485 for tickets and table reservations.

Luncheon, card pay set at St. Anselm’s Church

St. Anselm’s Episcopal Church at Joel Blvd. and 6th St. is holding a luncheon and card party on Wednesday, Oct. 20 from noon to 3 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.

General Women’s Club programs are Oct. 15 and 23

The General Women’s Club of Lehigh Acres will meet Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church on Leeland Heights Blvd. The program will be presented y George Szmanski and Larry Gutridge. Both will explain what the Lehigh Community Initiative (formerly Weed & Seed) is doing for Lehigh Acres. The club will also hold its annual luncheon card party and game day on Saturday, Oc. 23 at 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 705 Leeland Heights Blvd. Admittance is $6 and it will benefit the General Women’s Club Scholarship Fund. Lehigh Concert Band plans programs

The Lehigh concert Band will hold a program on Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. It will be a “Tribute to Football,” and will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church at 705 E. Leeland Heights Blvd. On Dec. 19, the band will host a seasonal music program. On Jan. 16, the program will be “Meet our Sponsors and Meet the Musicians.”

On Feb. 20, the concert will be a “Happy Valentine’s Day” musical and on March 20, it will be a program called “Potpourri.” All programs are free.

Kreegel aide to be in Lehigh library

Rep. Paige V. Kreegel (D-72) will have a member of his staff at the East County Regional Library on Thursday, Oct. 28 to answer questions about any state related issues that local citizens may have. The hours are from 10 to 11 a.m. For more questions, call Cynthia Beckett at Kreegel’s office at 941-575-5820. Do not call the library.

Pharmacy to offer flu shots

Flu shots are available at the Medicine Shoppe at 57 Homestead Rd. N. on Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Abdel Aryan, who operates the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy, said Lehigh residents may get their flu vaccinations at the Medicine Shoppe as they have done in years past. “It’s the smart and healthy thing to do,” he said. Lehigh Relay golf tourney set Oct. 30

The Lehigh Relay for Life is gearing up for a golf tournament to be held at Copperhead Golf Course on Oct. 30 in Lehigh. Benefits go to the American Cancer Society to help fight cancer.

The entry fee is $55 and includes gift bag, lunch and prizes.

There will be a “long drive” for both men and women, “putting and hole-in-one” contests. Teams can include four men or four women or two men and two women, Registration begins at 7 a.m. with the Four Ball Scramble starting at 8 a.m.
