Prep Report: Seahawks take on Raiders on district course

By Staff | Oct 15, 2010

The Cape Coral High boys’ golf team got a good feel Thursday for the River Hall course they will play Monday in the 18-hole District 2A-15 Tournament.

The course must have suited Riverdale more Thursday than it did Cape. The Raiders posted four scores in the 40s to beat the Seahawks 178-202. Nick Clodfelter and Ryan Connors both shot 5-over-par 41 to lead the Raiders and share medalist honors.

“That’s why we scheduled the match,” said Seahawks coach Bob Plageman. “It gave us an opportunity to play the course in advance of Monday. Actually, there were about four other schools there playing practice rounds today.”

Anthony Lawrence toured the nine holes in 42 to lead the Seahawks.

Cape Coral 202 – Anthony Lawrence 42, Sam Johnson 51, Blair Langford 54, Nate Henry 55.

Riverdale 178 – Nick Clodfelter 41, Ryan Connors 41, Eric Duda 48, Eric Rivera 48.

At Coral Oaks: Mariner’s foursome combined to shoot 167 Thursday to beat Cypress Lake (182) in the final regular-season match.

Dean Hofer took medalist honors with a 1-over 37 for the Tritons, backed by a 40 by John Inkster, 42 by Tyler Till and 48 by Jordan Kenney.

“I was happy to see them shoot a good round,” said Tritons coach James Harris. “It was good for the seniors to get a win in the final home match and we hope to use it as momentum for the district on Monday.”

Ralph Albright topped Cypress with a 2-over 38.

Mariner 167 – Dean Hofer 37, John Inkster 40, Tyler Till 42, Jordan Kenney 48.
