By Staff | Oct 16, 2010

The Florida Lottery announced that Hussam Mahmoud, 48, of Orlando, claimed the October 2 FANTASY 5 top prize at Florida Lottery headquarters this weekend.

Mahmoud received a one-time, lump-sum payment in the amount of $265,808.57. He purchased his winning Fantasy 5 Quick Pick ticket from Hess Express, located at 12253 S. Orange Blosson Trail in Orlando.

Total ticket sales for this top prize generated more than $342,000 for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF). Since 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed more than $21 billion to the EETF, benefiting our students and schools, as well as funding more than one million Bright Futures scholarships.

By a two-to-one margin, Florida voters in 1986 approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the state to operate a lottery for the purpose of generating significant additional moneys for education.
