Fire marshal investigating death in mobile home fire

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said that on Sunday, October 17, at 2:56 a.m. deputies responded to a report of a mobile home fire at River’s Edge Mobile Home Park, 1064 N. Tamiami Trail, North Fort Myers. After the fire was extinguished, the body of a deceased female was located in the home, officials said.

A male escaped the fire and was taken to the hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment, officials said.

Fire investigators along with detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene to investigate. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, they said. The cause of the fire has not been determined and is being investigated by the state fire marshal.
