Prep Report: Cape girls fall 5-2 in soccer opener

Hannah Jauregui scored all five goals to propel Estero to a 5-2 victory Monday night and spoil the girls’ soccer season opener for the Cape Coral Seahawks.

The Seahawks make their home debut Tuesday night when they take on the defending district champion Ida Baker Bulldogs at Dave Warkentin Field. It is the season opening game for the Bulldogs, who went 27-1 last season.

Mariner 0, South Fort Myers 0; Mariner 7, East Lee County 0: Very few scoring opportunities came about in 40 minutes as Mariner and South Fort Myers played to a scoreless tie in the Kelly Road Preseason Classic Monday night.

Playing a number of reserves and different combinations in the lineup, the Tritons came alive in the second session, beating East Lee County on three goals by Juan Rincon and one each by Travis Pacheco, Steven Kong, Tyler Till and Lucas Orellana.

The Tritons wrap up their preseason scrimmages Tuesday with two more contests with Cypress Lake and North Fort Myers.

Cape Coral Classic: Charlotte scored two goals late to come from behind to edge Ida Baker 3-2 Monday night. Nick Presti scored both goals for the Bulldogs.

Baker faces Bishop Verot and Charlotte takes on host Cape Coral Wednesday in the final preseason scrimmage.
