Crime Stoppers asking public to help in burglary
Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help piecing together an early-morning burglary in which three men skillfully broke into a Lehigh Acres auto parts store, hauling off more than $1,300 worth of merchandise.
Officials said that on Nov. 1, at around 1:30 a.m., the alarm at the Advanced Auto Parts store at 75 Joel Boulevard was activated. A deputy nearby also heard the audible alarm, and immediately responded to the business.
Upon his arrival, he discovered a large hole cut into the rear metal roll up door of the business. Surveillance cameras showed three men inside the store, picking out a long list of specific items, then removing them from the store. Those items included several radar detectors and GPS devices, distributor caps for a Chevy/GMC vehicle, an ignition control, spark plugs, battery charger and other items totaling $1,399.14.
A few other minor items, including a carburetor gasket and some oil, was also taken from the business, but left behind by the thieves near the back door. The thieves are described as thin built, and all wore face masks and gloves.
Detectives are asking anyone with information on the break-in, the suspects or the location of the stolen property to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for up to $1,000 in cash rewards. Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org.
