Deetscreek, Bonacolta applauded
To the Editor:
The electors of the East County Water Control District have handed Dave Deetscreek a resounding victory. I congratulate him for winning the election on the Board of Commissioners. The taxpayers have delivered a message and it is loud and clear. This brutal recession has stretched taxpayers to the limit. Yet, the District has been on a spending spree with borrowed monies and has yet to live within its means. From Congress to East County Water Control District the voters are demanding that all levels of government live within its means.
Dave Deetscreek is an accomplished leader in our community. He is president of the Board at the Chamber of Commerce. He knows how to sign the front of a paycheck as an employer.
His insights will be invaluable. No doubt Mr. Deetscreek’s statement in your story shows that he will have insights on correcting the course of East County Water Control District during this unrelenting recession.
Mike Bonacolta has won a decisive victory against three other candidates. His election was hard won and I believe that he will have much to contribute.
I disagree with Commissioner Desmond Barrett’s negative assertions on this election and hardly call these winners “extremists.” As Mr. Barrett prepares to leave the Board of Commissioners next year, those of us remaining and his replacement will endeavor to correct the course of the District as the voters are demanding.
