Property rezoning sought

By Staff | Nov 9, 2010

To the Editor:

A property owner adjunct to Lehigh Acres is trying to rezone 1,803.5 acres from Agriculture District to Mine Excavation Planned Development. This project has the potential to adversely impact the public health, safety and welfare of all residents in Lehigh Acres.

Currently this property is in the Density Reduction/ Groundwater Resource (DR/GR) and Wetlands area in Lee County. It is located off State Road 82.

A hearing is planned Nov 17 at 9 a.m. at the Hearing Examiners Office in Fort Myers.

For more information, interested persons can contact me at (239) 245-4815.

A Staff report provided by Alvin Block, principal planner for the Lee County Department of Community Development Zoning Division can be reached at (239) 533-8371 for a request for records. I can also supply a report in pdf form.
