Bulldogs, Tritons play for pride
Nothing is on the line – no playoffs, no district implications – except bragging rights Friday night when the Ida Baker Bulldogs (0-9, 0-3) conclude a disappointing season at Mariner’s Tony McKenna Field.
The Tritons (2-7, 2-3) were in the same situation as the Bulldogs halfway through the season – winless at 0-5. That’s when the Tritons got a spark by winning back-to-back games against Bishop Verot and North Fort Myers.
The Tritons have lost their last two and are looking to go out on a winning note which they hope to carry through the offseason and feel good about themselves for next year.
Cape Coral Seahawks (8-1, 3-0) at Lehigh Lightning (5-4, 2-4): The Seahawks just hope to get through Friday’s game unscathed so they can turn their focus on the Region 3-4A quarterfinals matchup against Palmetto next week.
In other season-ending non-district games with no impact on the playoffs include: Bishop Verot (5-4, 1-4) hosts Westminster Christian; Estero (4-5, 1-2) visits Cypress Lake 3-6, 2-4); East Lee County (5-3, 4-2) entertains playoff-bound Dunbar (4-5, 4-1); district champion Evangelical Christian (8-1, 6-0) finishes off at Gateway Charter (0-9, 0-5); playoff-bound Riverdale (5-4, 4-1) hosts LaBelle (1-8, 1-4); and Southwest Florida Christian (2-7, 0-6) closes at Princeton Christian.
