Lehigh youngster dies of injures after being hit by a pickup truck

A young Lehigh Acres boy died Friday afternoon while visiting with relatives in Fort Myers. Le-Jarvis Johnson, 5, who friends and family members called “Jarvis” ran out onto Roanoke Drive and was hit by a truck, who driver said he couldn’t stop in time.

Paramedics arrived on he scene and performed CPR and the boy was rushed to Lee Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The name of the driver of the pickup truck was not identified and the Fort Myers Police Department has not charged the driver in the mishap, which occurred near 28 Roanoke Drive.

Those who live in the area said the driver of the pickup sat in a nearby driveway with his heads in his hands.

The little boy’s family came together at his grandmother’s home which is across the street expressing their grief to one another.

The five-year-old had gone to his grandmother’s house on Roanoke Drive, a practice he did every day after school. He was a student at Orange River Elementary School.
