Anne L. Troyer

Anne L. (Sukie) Troyer, 95. of Union City, Pa., died in Lehigh Acres on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. She was born July 2, 1915 in Barberton, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Sukie.

She was a homemaker and loved her gardening and all the special activities that she and her sister-in-law, Ruth Troyer helped with at the Beaverdam Mennonite Church where she was an active member.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Vernon S. Troyer in 2005, and by two brothers, Joseph and Michael Sukie.

She was a graduate of Barberton High School in 1932, and while working at Yoder Brothers Greenhouses, she met her future husband Vernon S. Troyer, who she would marry December 25, 1935 at the Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville, Ohio. In 1943, Vernon and Anne along with Clayton and Ruth Troyer moved to the Union City area and started Potato Farming Operations. She loved working in the potato fields and helping to sort and grade the potato crop during harvest time.

She fell in love with the Union City are. Prior to retirement, she and her husband would spend winters in Florida and spend their summers in Union City, Pa., and also in Hastings, Ontario, where their fishing camp was. She loved to fish.

Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Sumner and her husband Don of Tifton, Fla., and Jean Stitt of Lehigh Acres; three sons, Roger Troyer of Union City, Pa., Donald Troyer and his wife Min-Sun of Bonita Springs, Fla., Vernon J. Troyer, and David Troyer and his wife Lynn all of Alva, 21 grandchildren and 22 great- grandchildren and several hundred nieces and nephews survive.

Friends are invited to call at the Robert M. Glenn Funeral Home Inc. 62 South Main Street, Union City, Pa., on Monday, November 22, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. and again from 7-9 p.m. and attend funeral services at the Beaverdam Mennonite Church, 17721 Route 89, Corry, Pa., on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jay Conn, officiating. Interment will be in Lawn Cemetery, Beaverdam, Pa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beaverdam Mennonite Church, 17721 Route 89, Corry, PA 16407.
