Raiders places first in two events at FGCU competition.

The Florida Gulf Coast Raider Challenge competition was held at Camp Miles in Punta Gorda Florida on November 13. Thirty four teams from across Lee County competed in this competition. Lehigh Senior High School’s Raider Team entered four teams in this event. The Raider meet consisted of five events: a physical fitness test, a timed one rope bridge construction, a 1.5 mile team run that included a litter carry course, a 3-mile team run and a Land Navigation test and course. The Lehigh Senior High School’s Raider A Team placed first in both the 3-mile team run and the Land Navigation event. They finished second the physical fitness test and Litter Carry event. Lehigh’s A team consisted of Carlos Rocha (team captain), Marcos Cruz, Renata Dasilva, Marcos Vences, Maribel Cavillo, Aarin Cortez, Jose Lezama, Rey Falero. Additionally, Lehigh’s all female team led by Jolyn Stuck finished second in the Physical Fitness event.

College, Career Center opens at Lehigh Sr. High School

Lehigh Senior High School held the grand opening and ribbon cutting of its College and Career Center on Nov. 12. The purpose of the College and Career Center, operated by the Guidance Department, is to assist students with college applications, scholarships, financial aid, SAT, ACT, as well as to advise students of career options. This new addition to Lehigh Senior is equipped with computers, information about various colleges and their requirements, scholarship opportunities, and a guidance counselor is always available. The College and Career Center is another step toward LSHS reaching its goal of preparing every student for college.

School singer to perform at Disney

On December 27 the Lehigh Senior High School Center for the Arts Varsity Singers will travel to Orlando to perform in the Disney Candlelight Processional. The students will join in with several other high school choirs to form one gigantic mass choir. Choral Director Earl Sparrow said “students will perform several holiday classics like Joy to the World, Silent Night , Angels from the Realms of Glory and many others.” The Lehigh Senior Varsity Singers had to submit a DVD with the audition material to Disney World and were selected to perform. Senior Jessica De Marco said “I’m extremely excited because I’ve been in this choir for four years and we’ve never performed anywhere outside of Lee County. This really shows how much we’ve improved as a choir and we can only get better from here.”

Students participate in Polly’s 5-K Run

Lehigh Senior High School Center for the Arts staff participated in the 1st Annual Polly’s 5K Run at Lakes Park.
