FGCU women ranked No. 3
Florida Gulf Coast University’s women’s basketball team earned the No. 3 ranking Tuesday in the CollegeInsider.com Women’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll. The Eagles moved up four spots from No. 7 last week.
Green Bay and Old Dominion are the only squads ranked higher than the Eagles.
The Eagles are one of two Atlantic Sun Conference teams represented in the Top 25. The East Tennessee State holds down the No. 20 spot.
In two games at the Caribbean Challenge in Cancun, Mexico, the Eagles defeated Virginia Tech and 17-time Big Sky champ Montana. The win over Tech is the Eagles’ first over a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The Eagles (4-0) are back in action at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Jacksonville facing North Florida in the first game of a doubleheader with men’s squad.
