Andrew J. Matz

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. at the American Legion, 899 Button Wood Drive, Fort Myers Beach, for Andrew Joseph Matz, 58, of Lehigh Acres, who died November 20, 2010.

He was born July 19, 1952 in Camden, N.J., and was the son of Albert and Gloria (Updike) Matz.

He lived on Fort Myers Beach for many years. He was a charter captain for 25 years and very much enjoyed the water. He most recently worked as a supervisor for Chico’s in Fort Myers.

He is survived by his wife, Loida of Lehigh Acres; four children, Amanda Matz of Estero, Florida, Dustin Matz of Estero, Melissa Morgan of North Carolina, and Jolene Malchuit, also of North Carolina; one brother, Albert Matz of Fort Myers Beach, and one grandson, Hudson Roy Morgan.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that contributions in Matz’s memory be made to the MPS Society, PO Box 14686, Durham, NC 27709-4686.
