Suspect nabbed in Lehigh bank robbery Wednesday

A suspect has been arrested in the bank robbery at First National Bank of the Gulf Coast at 50 Joel Blvd. The bank was robbed at 9:38 a.m. Wednesday when a lone gunman approached a teller and demanded money. According to the Sheriff’s Office, he indicated he had a weapon.
The suspect fled the bank on foot and investigators responded to the call.
Arrested was Roland Fisher, 25, of Lehigh Acres. He has been charged with robbery with a weapon.
K-9 deputies responding to the scene had conducted a track which led to an area consistent the last known location of the suspect. The suspect was not located at that time, according to investigators. During the follow up investigation, robbery detectives revisited the area and conducted a neighborhood canvass.
They made contact with a man at a residence on Highland Avenue who was identified as the perpetrator. Physical evidence was recovered which was consistent with items belonging to the subject who entered the bank and committed the robbery, investigators said.
There were no customers in the bank at the time of the robbery and none of the employees was injured.
The bank is the former Panther Community Bank and is located next door to Metro PCS and also is near the Sweet Bay supermarket.
