Winning card: Lehigh Senior High School Center for the Arts student Amber Dunlap was selected as a “Holiday Card” winner by the School District of Lee County. Amber’s art work will be on display in the main school district lobby.

Open House set for college programs

Lehigh Senior High School Center for the Arts will host its Annual School Choice Open House on Thursday, January 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Principal Jeff Spiro said “this is a wonderful opportunity for East Zone families to hear about the college preparatory programs that are at Lehigh Senior along with our visual and performing arts.” Lehigh Senior High School is the only school in the East Zone to offer the University of Cambridge International program and the Center for the Arts. In addition, Lehigh was the first AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) school in Lee County, Spiro said.

Five students chosen for Honor Band

Five Lehigh Senior High School Center for the Arts students were chosen for the 2010 -1011 Lee County, All County Honor Band. Lea Harvey, Nicholas Lauta, Anthony Napodano, Joshua Grzenda and Bryson Wheeler performed with students from other high schools in Lee County on December 10 at Mariner High School.

“I am very proud those five students from Lehigh Senior auditioned and made the all county band. They practiced very hard and it paid off,” said Band Director Jay Parales.

Two Lehigh Senior High School Center for the Arts students have been chosen for the 2010-2011 Lee County, All County Honor Orchestra. Amber Jacobs and Thomas Price-Gedrites will perform with students from other high schools in Lee County on January 28 at 7 p.m.at Cape Coral High School. Musical Director Jay Parales said, “I know that playing in the All County Orchestra will be a great experience that they will remember when they look back at their time in high school.”
