NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Florida Everblades saw their six-game road winning streak come to an end Friday night at the hands of the South Carolina Stingrays.

Goaltender Todd Ford stopped all 20 shots he faced in the Stingrays’ 3-0 victory. Ford earned his second shutout as well as the second for the Everblades (17-12-0) this season.

After a scoreless first period in which the Everblades outshot the Stingrays 8-7, the Stingrays (12-13-1) scored midway through the second period. Off a right circle faceoff, the Stingrays gained control and Bryan Schmidt threw the puck on net where Matt Scherer deflected home his eighth goal of the season.

Everblades goaltender Jaroslav Janus (7-6-0) came up big, making 14 of his 27 saves in the second period, including stopping a breakaway midway through the period.

The Stingrays helped their cause in the third by scoring on a power play. The power play goal was the first by the Stingrays against the Everblades in their four meetings.

The Stingrays sealed the win with an empty-net tally with 58 seconds remaining.

The Everblades return to action Sunday in a rematch with the Stingrays.
