Golden Gate extended its winning streak to 26 in a row in Collier County with a 2-0 victory Thursday over the Mariner Tritons in the final round of the Southwest Florida Winter Invitational.

“We had four golden scoring opportunities that were a little wide,” said Tritons coach Martin Cardenas. “If we had made one of them it might have made a little difference in the enthusiasm of the game.”

Goalkeeper Matt Brust made six saves for the Tritons, who gave up one goal in each half.

“We still had 20 minutes to put something together,” said Cardenas. “Our defense played well most of the night.”

The Tritons (12-6-1) host Ida Baker in a district match on Jan. 4.
