Rev. DeWitt T. Farabee Jr.

Rev. DeWitt T. Farabee Jr., 84, who was once a pastor at Christ United Methodist Church in Lehigh Acres, died on December 26, 2010. Farabee was born in Fort Myers in 1926 and was the the son of the late DeWitt and Edith Farabee of Fort Myers. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired as Senior Pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Lehigh in 1989 and returned to DeLand.

Farabee was an active pastor in Methodist churches in Florida for 38 years. He enjoyed tennis and other sports, music, theater, reading and people.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Martha Bryant in 1992. Farabee is survived by Ann, his wife of 55 years; son Paul Farabee of Tallahassee; daughters, Fayanne of Tallahassee, Joyce Killinger of Raleigh, N.C.; brothers, Waldo Farabee of Maine and Maurice Farabee of Blairsville, Ga.; sisters, Lois Kuntz and Irene Crow of Fort Myers; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Trip Killinger and Anna Farabee.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010 in DeLand, Fla.
