Gertrude Bader
Gertrude “Trudy” Bader, 87 of Lehigh Acres died on January 6, 2011.
She was a registered nurse in Allentown, Pa., and upon retirement in 1973, moved to Lehigh Acres where she was an active and devoted volunteer. She was the coordinator the Blood Pressure Screening Clinic at the Lehigh Senior Citizens Center for 30 years and in December received a Lifetime Membership Award in recognition of her service.
She was a dedicated member of the General Women’s Club of Leigh Acres for 34 years. Bader was a deacon at her church, a Pink Lady at Lehigh Regional Medical Center, a volunteer at the library and Meals on Wheels. She was recognized by WINK TV for her extraordinary volunteer service to the community.
An Angel on Earth, she will be remembered by her family and friends for her constant smile, her loving kindness and endless generosity. She was always there to lend a hand when needed. and received the Good Neighbor of the Month Award.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Bader and daughter Bonnie Smith. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Lopsonzski of Coopersburg Pa., and Judith DeFiglio and her husband, Charles of Lanoka Harbor, N.J., nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Hope Hospice, 1201 Wings Way Lehigh Acres FL.
Arrangements handled by the National Cremation Society, Fort Myers. Internment will be in Allentown, Pa.
