By Staff | Jan 25, 2011

Jermaine Eugene Gibbs, 27, who was wanted after he showed up at his estranged wife’s home and pulled a gun on her and a companion and proceeded to beat her and rob her friend, turned himself in Monday night.

Lee County Sheriff’s deputies said they were called to the 4800 block of Leonard Boulevard in Lehigh Acres shortly before 3 a.m. on Sunday, January 23.

The victim told investigators that Jermaine Eugene Gibbs showed up at her home and knocked on the door, demanding to be let into the house. When the victim refused, she said Gibbs smashed a window and entered the house.

Once inside, she told authorities Gibbs pulled a handgun and used it to strike her on the head. Gibbs is also accused of using a portable fan to continue striking his wife. Investigators said Gibbs then pointed the handgun at his wife’s companion, took his cell phone and demanded he leave the house at once.

The companion left, but was able to look through the front window and see Gibbs repeatedly punch his wife with a closed fist and then trying to strangle her, investigators said.

Gibbs then fled the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released.

Gibbs is a semi-professional boxer and said he was considered armed and dangerous when they called for his arrest.

Gibbs is 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds. Before he turned himself investigators said he was considered armed and dangerous.

He was taken to the Lee County Jail where he was booked and faced multiple charges.
