Fort Myers woman dies in Thursday Lehigh crash
The name of a Fort Myers woman who was killed in a crash in Lehigh Thursday at around 7 p.m. has been identified as Solange Michel, 29.
Sgt. Stephanie Eller, a spokeswoman with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, said that deputies responded to a serious crash at the intersection of SR82 and Columbus Blvd. in Lehigh Acres.
She said a 2002 Pontiac with three occupants was traveling eastbound on SR82 and had slowed to turn north onto Columbus Blvd. A 2008 Ford pickup truck with five occupants was traveling behind the Pontiac and attempted to pass as the vehicle was turning causing the vehicles to collide, she said.
Lehigh Fire and Rescue had to cut the female driver out of the Pontiac with the jaws-of-life. She was airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital by Medstar but later died. Two other passengers in the Pontiac and one passenger from the truck were also transported to area hospitals.
