Beautiful kitten needs a good home

By Staff | Jan 30, 2011

To The Editor:

I had stray cats around our house. A female kept coming up and fighting with my cats, through the screens on my lanai. I couldn’t let my cats out onto the lanai or she would try to fight with them and run them off.

I caught her and took her to the animal shelter. I told shelter personnel I thought she had kittens and I’d try to catch them. I caught one of them about the 22nd of December, and took it down to the shelter. Then we caught the second kitten about the 29th of December, we took it down to the shelter three days after the New Year.

I had given it a bath for fleas and it was getting tame, because it would run to me every time I went out on the Lanai. I also took enough food to the shelter along with the kitten, about a month’s worth of food.

I did that so the Shelter could feed it until it was adopted. In about two weeks it showed up at my house. I caught it again because I thought it was another kitten. I took it to the animal shelter and it was the same kitten, because it had the microchip inserted and was neutered it.

The personnel at the shelter said they released it to be a feral cat, because it was wild and aggressive.

It was a tiny kitten that is only about three months old and weights about one pound. How could it survive on its own at that age?

We then proceeded to bring the kitten home with us, because they said they would be forced to release it again.

I have the kitten now and it is as tame as can be. I would love to find it a good home. I cannot keep it. I have three of my own now. Anyone interested let me know. I found out they adopted out the first kitten and it was wild, and they euthanized the mother cat. Call me at 368-5278.
