Cypress ousts Cape in 4A-11
Everything fell apart for the Cape Coral Seahawks Wednesday night in a 60-32 loss to Cypress Lake in the quarterfinal round of the girls’ District 4A-11 basketball tournament at Estero.
A flurry of Seahawk turnovers in the third quarter allowed the Panthers to pull away on a 22-8 run that opened a 41-20 bulge.
Crystal Townsend finished her freshman season with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Seahawks (9-18).
The Panthers advance to Friday’s semifinals against North Fort Myers, which defeated Lemon Bay 56-46 in Wednesday’s other semifinal.
