February’s roster of activities at East County Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:
ADULTS
English Caf
10 a.m. Fridays, February 11, 18, 25
Practice your English with English Cafe, a free, conversation session for
adult ESOL and ESL students. Each 90-minute session provides adult learners an
opportunity to practice speaking English with native speakers.
Chess Anyone?
4 p.m. Mondays, February 7, 14, 21, 28
Rise to the chess challenge and join the fun. Everyone is welcome. Bring a
personal chess set, if preferred. Sponsored by the Friends of the East County
Regional Library.
Sewn Card Making
6 p.m. Tuesday, February 8
Monika Heutmann, an East County Library favorite crafter, continues her craft
series with an old favorite – stitching cards. This method produces lovely
results and is great for beginners! Registration is required.
Making Christmas Ornaments & Paper Folding Mini Lanterns
6 p.m. Tuesday, February 15
series with two new crafts. She will have several styles of ornaments and mini
lanterns for you to make. Registration is required.
Rock Around the Clock to Music of the 40s, 50s and 60s
2 p.m. Saturday, February 19
Enjoy the music of Dave Kilbride. He plays a lively guitar and sings tunes
that you may remember. Sit back, relax and remember the good times!

Making Beaded Christmas Ornaments
6 p.m. Tuesday, February 22
Monika Heutmann, an East County Library favorite crafter, completes her craft
series with beautiful beaded Christmas ornaments. Don’t miss this one!
FAMILY
Family Storytime
6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, February 8, 15
This program is for the whole family and lasts about 30 minutes.
Toddler Storytime
10 a.m. Wednesdays, February 9, 16
10 a.m. Thursdays, February 10, 17
Children 2 years old and their caregivers participate in song, fingerplays and
short stories. The success of this age group depends on adult participation
and encouragement. Toddler storytime lasts approximately 30 minutes.
Baby-Parent Rhyme Time
10 a.m. Saturday, February 12
Be prepared to tickle, jump and fly with your baby! These rhymes and songs are
for infants, up to 24 months, accompanied by an adult. This 20-minute program
is filled with songs designed to introduce rhyming and movement to infants.
Be My Valentine
2 p.m. Saturday, February 12
We’ll provide the supplies for you to make a special card for your valentine!
KIDS
Preschool Storytime
10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, February 9, 16
10:30 a.m. Thursdays, February 10, 17
Preschoolers (ages 3 to 5) attend this storytime independently while parents
or caregivers wait nearby in the library building. This storytime includes
activities that require more participation and a longer attention span. Each
preschool storytime lasts about 30 minutes.
Kids Read Down Fines
4:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 16
Children and teens can earn a $2 coupon for every 15 minutes of reading during
the allotted time in the designated area of the library. For ages 18 and
younger. Coupons may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under
only.

Book Discussion: Dashiell Hammett’s “The Maltese Falcon”
2:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 8
