By Staff | Feb 16, 2011

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office today said that shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, February 15, a detective with the Sheriff’s Office Highway Interdiction Unit stopped a vehicle travelling southbound on Interstate 75 (near mile marker 146) for what he said was illegally tinted windows.

During the stop, the detective said he observed what appeared to be marijuana on the lap of one of the passengers.

The detective said he could also smell marijuana in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a rolled marijuana joint on the rear passenger floor board and loose marijuana throughout the vehicle. A search of the vehicle’s occupants led to the discovery of a brick of marijuana, weighing approximately one pound, that one of them was trying to conceal on their person, according to a Sheriff’s report.

The following were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana over 20 grams: Erik Estrada, 32, of 690 N. 16th Street, Immokalee; Silvia Puente, 53, of 535 Eustis Ave., Immokalee; and Jose Puente, 31, also of 535 Eustis Ave, Immokalee.
