Land development codes workshop set this month
The next Lehigh Acres Land Development Codes Workshop will be held on Saturday, February 26, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The meeting will be located at the East Lee County Regional Library, 881 Gunnery Road North in Lehigh Acres. The focus of the meeting will be to review draft LDC language, said Janet Miller, an administrative assistant with the DCD Administration of Lee County.
Women’s Club plans February meeting
Mark your calendars now for the General Women’s Club of Lehigh Acres’ February meeting which will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 at the Faith Lutheran Church on Leeland Heights Blvd. The program will be presented by Clay Miller, of NBC-2.
Also, there will be a silent auction and bakeless bake sale. If you are brining items for the silent auction, you should come to the meeting early. The Spring Fashion Show and Luncheon will be held on Saturday, April 9 at the Colonial Country Club, Independence Way, Fort Myers, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The club is just outside Lehigh on Colonial Blvd. For more information, call Maralyn Waline at 368-4222.
The General Women’s Club of Lehigh Acres is selling raffle tickets for a seven-day, six-night vacation at Dover House Resort, Delray Beach, Fla. Drawing will be held at the Fashion Show and luncheon on April 9. Funds will benefit the Volunteers in Medicine (VIM), the new clinic planned for Lehigh Acres for people who have no job and no insurance.
Canada Club resumes meeting in Lehigh
The Canada Club of Lehigh Acres meets the first Sunday of each month at the Faith Lutheran Church at 705 Leeland Heights Blvd. in Lehigh from 4 to 7 p.m. A pot luck dinner should be brought to share and will be held prior to the meeting. Bring your own place setting. For more information, call Vickie Caetano at 369-8956. The meetings will be held every week including the month of March, says Dorothy Ludwig, the organization’s corresponding secretary.
Students can do community service in cleanups
Residents and students can show pride in their community of Lehigh Acres by participating in the following neighborhood beautification projects.
Community service hours are available on Feb. 26 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and on March 19, from 8:30 to 11 a.m., and on March 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and on April 2 and April 30, from 8:30 to 11 a.m., March 21, 8:30 to 11 a.m.

VFW to feature Karaoke and ‘Elvis’ on Feb. 26
The VFW will feature Karaoke with Columbia Tunes and a guest appearance by “Elvis” at 7 p.m. until closing ion Feb. 26. On March 17 St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and cabbage with rye bread will be served at the post for $5, just a corned beef sandwich is $3 and serving is from 11 a.m. until gone, according to VFW Commander Les Waide
