By Staff | Feb 19, 2011

Three female student-athletes at Ida Baker signed college letters-of-intent this week.

Kelly Fuhrmann, one of only two seniors on the girls’ soccer squad this season, signed to play soccer at Wingate University in North Carolina. She plans to major in chemistry to pursue a career in pharmacy. She carries a 4.96 GPA.

Baker softball teammates Shanelly Brown and Hannah Kelly signed with St. Petersburg College.

Kelly, a fourth-year starter, carries a .340 batting average into her senior season. Her decision to sign with St. Petersburg revolved around her desire to study radiology. Kelly carries a 4.06 GPA.

Brown led the Bulldogs in putouts last season as a defensive leader at second base.

In a separate signing recently at Mariner, senior Abby Willis accepted a softball scholarship with South Florida Community College.

Willis, a catcher for the Tritons, holds the school record for best fielding percentage of .990 and was selected as a member of the LCAC’s All-Conference first team in two of her three underclassman seasons.
