Prep Report: Tritons win finale in Key West
The Mariner Tritons finished off a three-game stint in Key West with a 9-4 victory Saturday afternoon over Miami Southridge.
Justin Gubelman pitched a complete-game five-hitter with four strikeouts to earn his first win of the season.
Charlie Klein drove in three runs with two hits and Alex Herzeg belted a two-run triple to lead the Tritons (2-1). Herzeg, Kevin Cavanagh and Jason Carmichael each finished with two hits.
The Tritons host Estero on Wednesday.

Bishop Verot 9, Chaminade-Madonna Prep 1: Dan Vogelbach belted a three-run homer in the third inning to highlight Bishop Verot’s victory Saturday.
D.J. Schleicher earned the win with four innings of thre-hit ball with two strikeouts.
Vogelbach, Josh Garcia and Frank Romano each had two hits.
The Vikings (1-0) host Island Coast Tuesday.

Wrestling
Three Mariner wrestlers competed at the Class 2A state meet this weekend in Lakeland, but only Basil Minto placed. Minto, who saw his unbeaten streak snapped in the semifinals, wound up fourth in the 171-pound division.
Ida Baker’s Brandon Gacad came home a state runner-up in the 112-pound division.
Mariner’s Brett Hurt (145) and Nick Maynard (160) lost matches in the early rounds. Cape Coral heavyweight Donnie Dupont also lost in early round matches.
Minto was making his second trip to the state meet.
