Peter J. Callahan

Peter J. Callahan of Conroe, Texas, and formerly of Lehigh Acres for 30 years, died Feb. 15, 2011. He was born in Suffern, N.Y. He had been a staff sergeant and served with the Army Thunderbirds in Korea as a medic.

Callahan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris A. Callahan; two daughters, Lisa Mare Fletcher (David) and Gail Patricia Papa Dalby (Robert); and a son, Michael Shawn Callahan (Mickey), as well as five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Callahan moved to Lehigh Acres in 1973 where he lived for 30 years. He moved to Conroe, Texas, in 2005.

Callahan was a long-time member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Knights of Columbus. He was known by his grandchildren as “Poppy.”
