High-speed trains for Florida will produce jobs

By Staff | Mar 1, 2011

To The Editor:

It is a conundrum that I cannot understand. Gov. Rick Scott stated he is all about jobs. Is the building of a high-speed rail road not a job-producing project?

The influx of federal funds will be a one-time chance to put Florida on the road to the future.

Every big project starts somewhere. Why not here in our own state?

The history of the development of Florida, post-World War II, is the railroad. Japan has long had a bullet train and China laid 25,000 miles of track last year.

A high speed train would help our tourism and improve transportation for business travel.

Gov. Scott, please consider the possibility of privately matching investments, as an alternative to missing an opportunity for the growth of this state.
