Work underway on Daniels overnight; highway will be closed

By Staff | Mar 1, 2011

Overnight on Tuesday, March 1 through early Wednesday, March 2 crews will be removing the overhead signs and support trusses, along with the existing traffic signal heads at Chamberlin Parkway.

To safely remove the items that extend over the entire roadway Daniels Parkway will be intermittently closed in one or both directions between the hours of 11 p.m. 3 a.m. for periods not expected to exceed 30 minutes, country transportation officials said. Motorists that use Daniels Parkway may wish to seek an alternate route during these hours. Emergency vehicles will be permitted to pass if necessary.

Lee County is widening Daniels Parkway from four to six lanes from Chamberlin Parkway to Gateway Boulevard. This project includes reconstructing the Daniels Parkway and Chamberlin Parkway intersection to create a four way signalized intersection, transportation offricials said.

Chamberlin Parkway is temporarily closed between Daniels Parkway and Air Cargo Lane until the intersection construction is completed. Chamberlin Parkway traffic is detoured to Paul J. Doherty Parkway for access to Chamberlin Parkway and Skyplex Commercial Center while this work is underway. Transportations officials are asking the public to drive with care and be aware of heavy equipment entering andexiting the roadway.
