Baker’s Peres tosses perfect game
It was a special night for the Ida Baker softball team and sophomore pitcher Maddy Peres.
Peres faced 21 batters, struck out 18 of them and did not allow a hit or a baserunner to register her first seven-inning perfect game in Baker’s 8-0 victory over South Fort Myers Tuesday night.
In back-to-back games, Peres has recorded 37 strikeouts and picked up her third win of the season.
Jessica Nuccio got the Bulldogs’ scoring started with a two-run triple in the second inning. Louis Ross and Sami Fisher also added triples in the Bulldogs’ 10-hit attack. Hannah Kelly and Katie Rieser contributed two hits apiece.
The Bulldogs (3-0, 2-0 District 4A-11) host Barron Collier Wednesday night.

Island Coast 20, Dunbar 0: Twelve runs in the first inning decided the game in Island Coast’s favor over District 3A-12 rival Dunbar.
Lexi Perry finished with three hits backed by Katie McDonald, Mikayla Kelly, Dana Ruff and Jessica Rossi with two hits apiece in the Gators’ 15-hit attack.
The Gators (2-5, 1-1 district) play at Port Charlotte Wednesday.

Riverdale 5, Mariner 4: A one-out single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted Riverdale to a District 4A-11 victory over Mariner.
Samantha Rapp was 4-for-5 to account for half of the Tritons’ eight hits in the game, including two doubles.

North Fort Myers 12, Estero 0: Allie Kennedy cracked a two-run home run in the fourth inning to finish off North’s lopsided victory at District 4A-11 rival Estero.
Darienne Boyden pitched three innings, allowing one of the Wildcats’ two hits and struck out four to earn her third win.
Sydney Bowden cashed in with three hits and drove in a run for the Red Knights (4-2, 2-0 district), who visit Bishop Verot Thursday.
