Death at Lee County Fair investigated; foul play not suspected

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene of a death investigation at the Lee County Civic Center, 11831 Bayshore Road, North Fort Myers on Sunday, investigators said today.

On Sunday, March 6 at approximately 10:20 p.m. deputies responded to a report of a medical emergency. An adult male had suffered an unknown medical problem and was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The fairgrounds were closed at the time of the incident.

The victim is a white male is his 40s who was working at the fair after hours. The cause of death is still unknown pending autopsy results. At this time detectives do not suspect any foul play.

They said OSHA has been notified.

The name of the decedent will be released pending notification of next of kin.

The Major Crimes Unit is conducting an investigation.
