Free car show, petting zoo at Majestic on March 13
A free Car Show and Petting Zoo is scheduled at the majestic Golf Club at 350 Homestead Rd. on Sunday, March 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pony rides are $3 for the youngsters and young at heart. Also The first Annual Philly Day will be held at Majestic Golf Club on March 13 from noon to 5 p.m. “Look on further than here for the best Philly cheese steaks in Lehigh,” promoters said.
Elks St. Patrick Day dinner, dance open to the public
A St. Patrick’s Day dinner and dance will be held at the Elks Lodge in Lehigh Acres at 1050 Joel Blvd. on March 22 and is opened to the public.
The Elks will be turning green for St. Patrick’s Day for the dinner and dance, members say.
Cocktails are at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. The menu will include corn beef and cabbage. Music will be by David Gary, who plays all types of dance music.
The price per person is $15 and must be purchased in advance.

Coast Guard Flotilla to teach boat safety
Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 94 will offer a one-day boating safety
course from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m. on Saturday April 16 at the Veterans Park
Recreation Center in Lehigh Acres, according to Frank L. Fortney, Flotilla vide commander. The cost is $35 per person and all materials are provided. It covers state and federal boating regulations, Homeland Security, and much more. The course is National Association of Safe Boating Law Administration approved. Elks hosting Pasta Night again
The Lehigh Acres Elks Lodge 2602 will hold a Pasta Night Tuesday, March 8 at the lodge at 1050 Joel Blvd. with Chef Guiseppe back to make Penne in whiskey sauce with stuffed peppers, salad, garlic rolls, coffee and one free well drink. The meal is $9.75. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Reservations not required but groups of six or more should call the lodge at 369-2602 for reservations.
Next Lands Codes meeting changed for April 9
The next Lehigh Acres Community Plan Workshop is scheduled for Saturday, April 9 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the East County Regional Library, 881 Gunnery Road in Lehigh.
This date is different from what was discussed at the February 26 workshop, but due to concerns expressed of that date being too close to the Easter holiday, staff changed it to April 9, said Janet Miller, an administrative assistant
Lehigh Relay for Life set for March 12
The Lehigh Relay for Life is gearing up for a golf tournament to be held at Majestic Golf Course on March 12. Benefits go to the American Cancer Society to help local people fight cancer.
The entry fee is $69, non-members $35 and that includes a gift bag, lunch, coffee and donuts by Dunkin’ Donuts and prizes. Promoters suggest you try your skills at Long Drive for both men and women, putting and Hole-in-One contests.
Teams can include four men or four women, or two men and two women. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with the Four Ball Scramble starting at 8 a.m.

Alva Garden Club to hold event to raise money for museum
The Alva Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale, baked goods sale and used book sale on Saturday, March 12, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The garden club is featuring a Strawberry Festival with homemade strawberry shortcake.
The event will be held at the Alva Museum, located at 21420 East Pearl
Street in Alva. For directions call 239-728-3180. Proceeds will go
toward the restoration of the Alva Museum.
Students can do community service in cleanups
Residents and students can show pride in their community of Lehigh Acres by participating in the following neighborhood beautification projects.
Community service hours are available on March 19, from 8:30 to 11 a.m., and on March 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and on April 2 and April 30, from 8:30 to 11 a.m., March 21, 8:30 to 11 a.m.

Women Dems to hold monthly meeting March 12
The Democratic Women’s Club (DWC) will hold its monthly meeting Saturday, March 12 at the Royal Palm Yacht Club, 2360 West First Street, Fort Myers (from McGregor Blvd., turn toward the river on West First Street, one block north of the Edison and Ford Estates).
The program will be a goal-setting workshop facilitated by political consultant Bob Schaeffer of Sanibel. The luncheon meeting is 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The luncheon is $18.
